General Principles Regarding Faculty Tenure

The mission and goals of University Libraries support the mission and strategic plan of Kent State University. In alignment with these, the UL criteria for tenure are based on the need to develop a faculty capable of:  providing quality service to its user community; contributing to the body of scholarly knowledge; and positively impacting UL, the University, and the profession. As the responsibilities of UL faculty positions do not conform to a single pattern, faculty are expected to contribute to the unit and the University in accordance with both specific position responsibilities and the expectations of the University and UL policies for tenure.
