Kent State University School of Art Collection and Galleries presents “Into the Wind, the Veils,” an exhibition of photography, digital collage, and performance/video works by Franco-Moroccan artist Mehdi-Georges Lahlou. His work explores the themes of religiosity and queerness in contemporary North African contexts and its Diaspora in Europe. “Into the Wind, the Veils” will be on view in the Center for the Visual Arts galleries from Jan. 21 through Feb. 25, 2021. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The exhibition was curated by Dr. Joseph Underwood, assistant professor of art history at Kent State, with the assistance of Kent State students Rachel Harris and Milo Schumann. The exhibition will be accompanied by a virtual lecture on February 12. Details and date to be announced. Lahlou is a forthcoming resident for SPACES in Cleveland in June 2021.
The exhibition will take place in the Crawford and Payto Galleries located on the first floor of the Center for the Visual Arts, 325 Terrace Drive in Kent. Gallery hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The galleries and building are ADA accessible.
