Kent State University's Healthy Communities Research Institute, Anti-Racism and Equity Institute, and Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Methods program are sponsoring a three-part seminar series on Qualitative Research Methods. The first of the three-part seminar series "Innovations in Qualitative Research Methods" will take place via Zoom on September 30th from 3:30-4:30 pm. This webinar highlights the qualitative research of five TT faculty at Kent State. Attendees will learn about innovative approaches to collecting qualitative data and have an opportunity to dialogue with the panelists about the benefits and challenges of qualitative methods. This webinar will appeal to both novice and experienced qualitative researchers!
The five panelists are experienced qualitative researchers from a variety of disciplines across Kent State University and include Dr. Jo Dowell (Assistant Professor of Nursing), Dr. Chris Dum (Associate Professor of Sociology), Dr. Christa Porter (Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration), Dr. Ashley Nickels (Associate Professor of Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies), and Dr. Landon Hancock (Professor of Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies).

Part two of the seminar series "Qualitative Data Analysis" will take place in February of 2022 (date and time TBD) and will introduce participants to various approaches to qualitative data analysis (QDA), with particular attention paid to QDA techniques and software programs.
"Seeking and Securing Funding as a Qualitative Researcher," part three of the seminar series, will take place on April 8, 2022, from 9 am to Noon. This in-person workshop provides qualitative researchers with an opportunity to: network with other scholars from KSU and the region, hear from qualitative researchers at KSU about how they secured external dollars, and learn from NIH/NSF grant-officers about how to apply for and receive external research funds.
