Poster Sale

  • The biggest and newest back to school poster sale is coming to Kent State!
  • The sale is put on by the company the College Poster Sale and is sponsored by the Flash Activities Board (FAB).
  • The sale will be all week from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Kent Student Center. 

Student Leadership Summit

  • Every August, Kent State’s student leaders gather to connect and shape the future of our campus community. 
  • Hosted by the Pepsi Leadership Center, the Student Leadership Summit brings together prominent student leaders from across campus to connect, collaborate, and drive meaningful community development. 
  • Our overarching goal remains unchanged: to empower you to make Kent State an exceptional place to learn, work, and live by leading with respect and compassion. All are welcome!
  • This event runs from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

Student Employment Fair

  • Looking for your first job as a student this Fall? Interested in learning about working on campus, or off campus locally in Kent? Come to the Student Employment Fair! 
  • Come learn about on-campus and local off-campus student job opportunities, meet and establish connections with employers, receive a FREE professional headshot, and learn about the Career Closet containing FREE professional clothing items.
  • This event runs from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Kent Student Center 218.

College of Aeronautics and Engineering Kickoff Cookout

  • Wrap up the first week of classes at the CAE Kickoff Cookout! 
  • Enjoy delicious cookout-style food, play lawn games, decorate the sidewalks with chalk, and try your luck at the prize wheel for a chance to win CAE giveaways. 
  • Whether you're connecting with classmates, meeting new friends, or just taking a break from the first week of classes, this is the perfect way to celebrate the start of a great semester!
  • This event is from Noon - 3 p.m. outside the Aeronautics & Engineering Building.

Ice Cream with the College of Sciences and Humanities Dean

  • Come grab a free t-shirt and ice cream with the College of Sciences and Humanities' dean!
  • This event will take place from 1 - 3 p.m. at the patio of Bowman Hall.

Hillel Welcome Back Shabbat

  • Come together in community for our first shabbat at Hillel for the semester! 
  • Join at 5:30 p.m. for services or at 6:15 p.m. for candle lighting and dinner at the Hillel Cohn Jewish Student Center.

Backyard BBQ

  • Start your first weekend of the fall semester on the right note by coming to the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) Backyard BBQ. 
  • You can win a picnic blanket and other giveaways (t-shirts, food vouchers, etc.) courtesy of the Flash Activities Board (FAB) and Undergraduate Student Government (USG) by completing a bingo board activity that will have you visiting stations put on by various organizations. 
  • These organizations include Kent Interhall Council, Civic and Community Engagement, Intercultural Student Life, FAB, USG, and others. 
  • There will be fun services projects, a live DJ, line-dancing, food trucks (with free samples), and more!
  • This event is from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Risman Plaza/Student Green in front of the Kent Student Center.

Student Media Open House

  • Student Media will be holding an open house event in Franklin Hall on August 28 from 3 - 7 p.m. 
  • This is a student's opportunity to swing by and see what Student Media is all about. 
  • Students can talk to students involved in the programs, check out the space, and learn how to get involved. 
  • Participating orgs: The Kent Stater, Hilltop Productions, Black Squirrel Radio, Black Squirrel Entertainment, Fusion, A Magazine, Luna Negra, ko|AD, Uhuru, The Burr, and the Audience Engagement Team.

Full Moon Float Kayaking Trip

  • Enjoy a beautiful sunset, let your worries drift into the night, and relax under the full moon on this unique kayaking trip at Wingfoot Lake.
  • The fee includes transportation from the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, all equipment, and instruction.
  • Contact adventurecenter@kent.edu with any questions.
  • The trip will begin at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center at 7 p.m. and go through 10 p.m.
