The contemporary a cappella sensation VoicePlay will be on stage at the Kent State University at Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.
The group will arrive in Tuscarawas County three days in advance and will visit New Philadelphia East and West Elementary schools and both Tuscarawas Valley Primary and Intermediate schools for in-school assemblies for the students. On Oct. 14, VoicePlay will lead a workshop at Indian Valley High School with its choirs and New Philadelphia High School choirs. Both groups also will participate in the Saturday evening show at the Performing Arts Center.
“This outreach component is very important to what the Performing Arts Center does for the community,” says David Mitchell, general manager of the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center. “Being able to get artists into schools and in front of students helps enrich our communities and helps foster a better appreciation for the arts. I am especially excited about the workshop for the high school students. They’re going to get a valuable experience they might otherwise never receive and have the opportunity to perform onstage with VoicePlay.”
