Kent State (28-6) will play Indiana on Friday, March 17, in the first round of the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournament in Albany, New York. While 13 is typically an "unlucky" number, the Golden Flashes hope it brings them a victory.  Team members erupted at the news during a watch party at Water Street Tavern in downtown Kent. Men's Basketball MAC championship

Kent State men's basketball team is taking home the MAC Championship trophy, earning them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The second seed Golden Flashes beat the first seed University of Toledo Rockets 93-78. Golden Flashes guard Sincere Carry, who earned 26 points in the championship game, was awarded the 2023 MAC Tournament MVP. City of Kent new flag options

In June 2022, the city of Kent formed a flag committee to choose the new design for the city’s official flag. Of the 68 unique designs submitted by community members, the final choices have been narrowed down to three.  The city’s current flag was designed by a Holden Elementary student in 1975, but has hardly been seen since. The city thinks it’s now time for an update. The city of Kent indicates the goal for the new flag is to be a timeless symbol of unity for the community. In honor of Women’s History Month, Kent State Today will be looking at the accomplishments of Kent State women who have advanced the cause of women, broken glass ceilings and left a lasting impact on women’s history.  In 2006, Betty Sutton became the first Kent State alumna to serve in the U.S. Congress, when she was elected to represent Ohio’s 13th District in the House of Representatives.   Sutton, a native of Barberton, Ohio, graduated from Kent State in 1985, and later graduated from law school at the University of Akron.
