Student Perspective: Experiencing the Monte-Carlo Television Festival
Thanks to a connection made by journalism alumnus Tom Jennings, ’85, media and journalism students attended the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in June while studying abroad in Florence, Italy. Jennings, an award-winning documentarian and CEO of 1895 Films, taught a storytelling class in Florence and served as the head judge for nonfiction films at the Monte Carlo festival this summer. One student who attended the trip wrote a first-person account of the experience.
Snapshots in Time: The Lives of Four Students
The photograph of Mary Ann Vecchio wailing over the body of fallen student Jeff Miller is one of the most memorable images related to events of May 4, 1970. The iconic photograph does not reflect the personality of the “cute hitchhiking kid” snapped by a teenage girl headed home from a concert in Cleveland. The exhibition Snapshots in Time: The Lives of Four Students provides snapshots of the lives, not the deaths, of Jeff Miller, Sandy Scheuer, Allison Krause and Bill Schroeder. They were brothers, daughters, students, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, and much more.
