Mini-Maker Faire 2019: students using 3D pens

On Friday, April 12, the Kent State University Library’s Garden room was filled with students, makers, crafters, gamers, and admirers from across the region. For the sixth year, the Mini-Maker Faire at Kent State brought robots, gardeners, gaming enthusiasts, and more to showcase their projects and teach the public about their areas of interest. Two teams from Kent State University placed among the top tier in the country, earning honorable mentions in the Public Relations Student Society of America’s (PRSSA) 2019 national case study competition. Students from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) received recognition for the 2019 Bateman competition. Bateman is PRSSA’s annual case study competition. A new and exciting experience was provided to the Kent State Regional Academic Center’s first year ADN (Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree) students. On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the nursing students experienced a live surgical broadcast from University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center with Dr. A. Goel, MD, general surgeon, and his surgery team. In order to demonstrate their aviation prowess, Kent State University’s (KSU) Precision Flight Team will compete in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) 2019 SAFECON Competition May 13-May 18. This year’s event takes place at the KJVL – Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville, WI.
