The greenhouse effect is one of the most widely known causes of global climate change. It is currently caused by an excess of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuels. Some natural processes can help slow climate change by removing CO2 from the atmosphere. For example, plants filter CO2 out of air and transfer carbon into soil where it can be sequestered for decades to centuries. The LGBTQ Student Center is hosting its annual Rainbow Run this year on September 21, 2018 at 7pm in Risman Plaza. Formerly known as That Gay 5K, the Rainbow Run is a fun 5k where participants can run, walk, and roll their way to the finish line! The event started 3 years ago when former intern, Blake Kinsel, saw the financial challenges a lot of LGBTQ+ students face and wanted to create a sustainable fundraiser for the Center’s Emergency Fund. On Monday, Aug. 6, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Kent State University signed a shared services agreement that will enable NEOMED to offer online degree programs in its College of Graduate Studies. Under the agreement, Kent State will provide technology and support services, including infrastructure, instructional design, video hosting and delivery, as well as a course management system for NEOMED’s online courses and programs.
