Gifts collected for the Salvation Army 2019

  The Student Nurses Association at Kent State University East Liverpool spearheaded, for the sixth year, a project to help provide gifts for 49 local children through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Gifts were donated by nursing students, as well as faculty and staff from the entire campus. This winter at Kent State, an art show and featured speaker on mental health will honor the life and legacy of assistant professor and artist Christopher Darling, who died June 2018. The events will take place Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, hosted by the School of Visual Communication Design, in which Darling taught: The opening of “Christopher Darling,” a retrospective of the artist and professor’s work, from 4-7 p.m. in Taylor Hall’s gallery. Congratulations to the finalists and winners of the 2nd annual FlashLab Innovation Pitch Contest. The competition came to a close Dec. 3 where seven students pitched their ideas and the judges crowned four winners.   Students, faculty and staff joined forces on each Columbiana County campus to make a showing at the Salem and East Liverpool parades. Fortunately, the weather was perfect for each event and thousands of area residents turned out to watch.
