  Staying up late and braving the chilly overnight temperatures, Michael Gershe, senior advisor II in Kent State's College of Aeronautics and Engineering took photos of the "Blood Moon" lunar eclipse that occurred from about 1 a.m. - 3:30 a.m. on March 14. Move-in golf cart drivers needed

University Housing is looking for volunteers to help welcome our newest Golden Flashes during Move-In 2026!  We wanted to give YOU the first opportunity to secure your preferred time slot before volunteer spots fill up! Students will move in on Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Thursday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. If you are available for one or both days — and are ready to cruise campus in a six-seat golf cart — we would love to have you join the team. Volunteers receive a t-shirt, endless appreciation, and the chance to be a part of one of the most exciting campus traditions.

Kent State School of Art Presents Free KBAI Visiting Artist Lecture Series

Kent State University’s School of Art invites all to attend the 2026 KBAI Visiting Artist Lecture Series, featuring public presentations by visiting artists working in ceramics, jewelry/metals/enameling, painting, print media and photography, and sculpture and expanded media. All lectures are free and open to the public and take place at 5 p.m. in the Center for the Visual Arts, Room 165. 

Grill and fire safety this summer

We're in the middle of grilling season, and Environmental Health and Safety has curated grilling best practices for optimal safety this summer. Gas grills are involved in an average of 9,287 home fires annually. Additionally, grill-related injuries are common, with an average of 21,682 emergency room visits per year between 2020 and 2024. Preventive measures can significantly reduce these risks.
