Campus preparations are underway for Fall 2026 Move-In as thousands of new and returning students arrive on campus soon. Official move-in days will take place from Wednesday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 23. Faculty and staff should anticipate increased traffic along main campus thoroughfares, particularly surrounding residence halls. Several parking lots will be reserved exclusively for move-in unloading during peak hours. To support the incoming class, the university is recruiting volunteers for Movers and Groovers and Golf Cart Shuttle drivers. 

Nominations are now open for the Kent State University Advisor Impact Award! Sponsored by University Advising, the Advisor Impact Award is a quarterly recognition given to one outstanding academic advisor who has made a significant positive impact on the lives and academic success of their students. This award celebrates advisors who embody the Kent State University Advising Guiding Principles. Nominations for the award close Friday, October 30.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, Oct. 21, as we celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Bowman Breakfast with a special presentation by Sarah Spinner, J.D., Ph.D. Sarah will share her Kent State story and reflect on the relationships, experiences and connections that have shaped her journey and her work at the Kent State University Museum. Since its inception in 1963, this event has brought together university and city leaders to address important community issues and strengthen the partnership between Kent State and the city of Kent. 

Internationally renowned papermaking artist Aimee Lee brings the centuries-old Korean tradition of hanji to Kent State. A 2026 Cleveland Arts Prize awardee whose work has been featured in The New York Times, Lee will open her residency with a free public lecture on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. in Murphy Auditorium at the Kent State University Museum. She’ll return in spring 2027 for a hands-on workshop, alongside a solo exhibition of her work at the museum. 

All are invited to pay tribute to those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. A special invitation is extended to Kent State faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members, or who have family members in the military. The program, Honoring All Those Who Serve, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza. The commemoration ceremony will also be available via live stream.
