Nurse leaders offer new content and policy solutions for the challenges faced across healthcare

Patton, Margarete L. Zalon, and Ruth Ludwick. The 3rd edition of this book offers insightful commentary, real-life scenarios, and creative discussion topics. This updated edition of their American Journal of Nursing award-winning book illuminates the extensive impact of nurses on health policy.
30 years ago, Dr. Margretta Madden Styles, RN, FAAN, asked the world to “Imagine a world without nurses.” As the COVID-19 pandemic evolved, there was no doubt that the world could not survive without nurses. There is no doubt that nurses’ voices, of nurses, are essential to reimagining healthcare and healthcare policy post-pandemic stated Ruth Ludwick. The co-editors believe that 4.2 million registered nurses are the voice for change and actualize this belief by donating all book royalties to endow the $2 million Washington Fellows program, administered by the American Nurses Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the ANA. Both Ludwick and Patton are KSU alumni, former members of KSU National Alumni Board and distinguished alumni recipients of the CON. Ruth is a Professor Emeritus at the College and Becky is the Atkinson Professor in Perioperative Nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. Margarete L. Zalon is a Professor of Nursing at the University of Scranton, Scranton, Penn. All are Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing.
