Cuyahoga Falls, OH - Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University’s outdoor, summer theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, will open its 46th season with "My Fair Lady" on June 13, 2014. Performances run through June 28. A preview performance will take place on June 12.
Directed by Porthouse Theatre Artistic Director Terri Kent, "My Fair Lady" follows the transformation of Eliza Doolittle from cockney flower girl to sophisticated lady. The musical is adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s play and Gabriel Pascal’s motion picture "Pygmalion" with book and lyrics by Alan J. Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Performances are June 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28 at 8pm and June 15 and 22 at 2pm.
The production stars Actors' Equity Association members Kayce Cummings as Eliza Doolittle, Greg Violand as Henry Higgins, Rohn Thomas as Alfred P. Doolittle and Geoff Stephenson as Colonel Pickering.
"My Fair Lady" is assistant directed by Jerimie Newcomb, choreographed by John R. Crawford, and music directed by Jonathan Swoboda. Costume design is by S.Q. Campbell, lighting design is by T.C. Kouyeas, Jr., scene design is by Ben Needham, sound design is by Brian Chismar and technical direction is by Steve Pauna. Actors Equity Association production stage manager is Derric Nolte.
