An Update from Terri Kent and Porthouse Theatre

My Dearest Friends and Subscribers,

I can’t imagine a summer without you. More importantly, I can’t comprehend a world without you and that is why we are cancelling the Porthouse Theatre 2020 season. It breaks my heart to share this news as you all mean so much to me. When I say, at each curtain speech, that “YOU complete our work and the Porthouse family,” I mean it!

However much I love Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University, and the United States of America, I consider myself, first and foremost, a citizen of the world. You are my brothers and sisters and it is our combined voices that will make this world a better place. We can do that by standing united and supporting the worldwide effort to mitigate this disease. Yes, we are disappointed, but that disappointment does not compare to the potential loss of life if we don’t support this decision.

Please know that we are committed to producing the same season in the summer of 2021. There are many factors at play. For instance, can we get the rights to produce these shows next summer. Know that we are already working on that! What doesn’t change is the fact that you are now, and always, a member of the Porthouse family. We stick together.

Our Box Office is working overtime to refund your subscriptions. I beg your patience as we set up a system to assist you. Our staff is working from their homes, but will contact you very soon as to how we can meet your needs. You are the heart and soul of our family and we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Please know how very sorry I am. Please know that I am here to help/support you in any way I can. Feel free to respond to me directly with thoughts, concerns, or reactions. I am here for you always and forever!

All my love,

Terri
