Angela Spalsbury, Ph.D.
Interim Associate Vice President of the Regional Campus System

Angela Spalsbury, Ph.D., was appointed interim associate vice president of the Regional Campus System effective July 1, 2026 and serves as the senior officer responsible for overall leadership of the Kent State University Regional Campus system. In this role she oversees the operations of the seven Regional Campuses, promotes student enrollment and academic success, and is responsible for expanding the visibility, influence and effectiveness of Kent State as a catalyst for regional development.
She also is the Dean and Chief Administrative Officer of Kent State University at Geauga in Burton, Ohio, and Twinsburg Academic Center in Twinsburg, Ohio. A Kent State alumna, Dr. Spalsbury left her position as professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Youngstown State University and joined Kent State on Jan. 1, 2018.
Dr. Spalsbury was once chair of Youngstown State’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics since 2013. She first joined the department in 2001 and rose the ranks from assistant professor to associate professor to professor and chair. Prior to joining Youngstown State, she worked at John Carroll University in University Heights, OH; Hiram College in Hiram, OH; and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Her research interests include functional analysis, mathematics and art, measure theory, and operator theory. Dr. Spalsbury is a member of the American Mathematical Society, the Association for Women in Mathematics, and the Mathematical Association of America. She served as Pi Mu Epsilon’s president, a national mathematics honorary society.
Dr. Spalsbury earned three degrees – a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy – in pure mathematics from Kent State. She also earned a Master of Science from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
