U.S. News & World Report has named two Kent State University programs as U.S. News Best Online Programs for 2020. Kent State is recognized in the Best Online MBA Programs and Best Online Graduate Education Programs rankings. U.S. News released its 2020 Best Online Programs rankings Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Encouraging. Respectful. Challenging. These themes emerge from numerous student nomination letters about Patrick L. Gallagher, Ph.D., associate professor of Spanish, which led to him being named a winner of the Distinguished Teaching Award. Judging by his reaction, we can add “humble” to the list of themes.

Melissa Harris-Perry Serves as Keynote Speaker at Kent State’s Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
On Friday, Jan. 24, members of the Kent State University community and the general public gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The university’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration started at 4 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. This year’s keynote speaker was Melissa Harris-Perry, Ph.D., the Maya Angelou Presidential Chair at Wake Forest University, television host, author and political commentator.
