About

Providing financial and academic assistance through the college admission process to individuals who desire to pursue post-secondary education at Kent State University. Designed for those who are limited English proficiency, traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education, persons with disabilities, homeless children and youth, foster care youth, and other disconnected participants.

    Services

    • Academic assistance to provide guidance through post-secondary education admission applications and financial aid applications (college entrance exams, college course selection, secondary school reentry, entry to a GED program, etc)
    • Educational and counseling services designed to improve financial and economic literacy
    • Individualized personal, career, and academic counseling with career-building workshops (Resumes, cover letters, interviews, networking, etc.) and mentoring programs
    • Field trip opportunities to post-secondary educational institutions and meetings with persons employed in various career fields; participation in “College Day” activities & more

    Eligibility

    Applicants must be 19 years of age, or less than 19 years of age and cannot be appropriately served by a Talent Search project AND must identify with ONE OR MORE of the following:

    • Member of an income-eligible household (household is eligible for government assistance)
    • First-generation student (neither parent has completed a 4-year degree)
    • An individual with a documented disability or special need
    • Foster youth
    • Homeless
    • Individuals who are limited English proficient
    • Individuals from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education
    • Veteran status
    • Spouse of a veteran or child(ren) of a veteran
