About the Conference

The Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth is the longest-running event in the United States to focus exclusively on multicultural literature for children and young adults.

Honoring author Virginia Hamilton, the conference reflects a commitment to promote cultural awareness and affirmation of lived experiences, such as finding one’s place in the world.

The 35th Anniversary of The Virginia Hamilton Conference on Multicultural Literature for Youth will be held on April 28, 2023 at the Kent State University Design Innovation Hub

The conference is held each year at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and sponsored by the College of Communication and Information and the School of Information
