Biography

Dr. Sheren Farag joined Kent State University as the director and assistant professor of the Horticulture Technology program, bringing extensive expertise in teaching and research. She earned her Ph.D. in agricultural engineering from Seville University in Spain, where her doctoral and postdoc studies were focused on irrigation water management; soil, water and plant relationships; crop physiology; deficit irrigation strategies; and irrigation scheduling using soil and plant-based methods. Prior to joining Kent State University, she worked as the workforce development trainer and remote pilot operator and instructor, training professionals to use drones for commercial purposes. She also worked as an agricultural technology instructor teaching numerous courses related to horticulture such as crops production; forage and pasture management; crop science; soil science; geographic information systems; and several others. During her academic and professional history, Dr. Farag was awarded several fellowships and accomplished publishing various scientific articles. She was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW); American Society for Horticulture Science (ASHS); and Sigma XI, the Scientific Research Society. She received several international and national honors and awards from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Spain; the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), Spain; and an international postdoctoral fellowship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW), USA.
