About
The School of Biomedical Sciences at Kent State University is a unique multi-institutional graduate program that provides the highest level of research and professional training in four biomedically-focused areas: Human Evolutionary Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, and Pharmacology.
During a student's first year, they complete curriculum requirements to gain in-depth foundation knowledge in biomedical sciences and professional skills while completing laboratory rotations to choose a research lab that is right for them. Students have the opportunity to pick a research advisor at one of three major research institutions in northeast Ohio, including Kent State University, Northeast Ohio Medical University and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. By working together, we are able to train graduate students in a variety of disciplines for several career options.
The school's uniqueness in the State of Ohio is a compelling reason to apply, as are its outcomes. About 95% of students who enter the program graduate with a Ph.D. Program graduates are employed in academic, industry, and other research-related positions related to their field of training.
