Jill Lahrmer
Biography
Jill Lahrmer, NCIDQ, IDEC, IIDA has taught within the Interior Design Program at Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) since 2008. In addition to the wide array of lecture and studio courses taught, Jill is the faculty advisor for the CAED Belden Brick Materials Library, IDSC student organization and interior design student internships. Academically recognized, Jill has been honored as a DesignIntelligence 25 Most Admired Educator (2017-2018), as well as Excellence in Higher Education from Ohio Magazine (2016) and the Outstanding Teaching Award from Kent State University’s University Teaching Council (2015).
Jill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design, Summa Cum Laude, from Ursuline College, and a Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from Kent State University. Practicing as an interior designer and project manager with Cleveland area architecture firms, Jill completed commercial projects across the United States, focusing on the corporate, hospitality, retail and healthcare sectors. While in practice, Jill’s design work was recognized through multiple national and regional awards. She became registered with the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) in 2002.
