Handshake and Job Searching Resources

What is Handshake?

Handshake is the #1 place where students find jobs and get hired as employers are recruiting students! This is an all-in-one career management tool where you can search for jobs, register for and manage your Kent State university events, fairs and have access to a library of resources for help with resumes, cover letters, and other career needs.

Login to Handshake

Important! As an alumnus, you will have access to your kent.edu email for two years after graduation. You should be able to login to Handshake using your kent.edu username and password until then. We recommend, as an alumnus, that you change your primary email to a personal email before you lose access to your Kent.edu account. Learn how to do that here.

Why should I fill out my Handshake profile?

Filling out your profile is important! It's a snapshot of information about you that can be shared with potential employers and peers. Handshake considers a profile complete when you include:

  • At least one work experience
  • At least one extracurricular activity or student organization
  • At least one skill

You can add each of those manually or upload your resume (in .pdf format) to fill out your profile. Handshake will import your content, then all you have to do is review, approve, and publish.
