CCI Florence

The Kent State “campus” in Florence, Italy, is housed in Palazzo Vettori. A prestigious and ancient building located in the heart of Florence, at the corner of Via Cavour and Via Alfani, next to Piazza del Duomo. According to historian Guido Carocci, the fabric of the building started at the beginning of the 15th century. Its façade proclaims the new ideas of Renaissance architecture based on the use of rustication.

• A comprehensive eight-week pre-departure orientation will take place in Kent before students depart for Florence.
• An excellent on-site staff administers the program and they will help with everything from a medical emergency to a restaurant recommendation.
• Students live in university-approved fully furnished apartments located throughout the historic Florence center within walking distance to the campus buildings. These apartments feature well-equipped kitchens and are near many fresh markets and local stores, which makes it easier for students to be responsible for their own meals. 
• Instruction is in English, except for the Italian language classes. 
• Classes are held Monday through Thursday to allow for weekend field trips.
• Kent State Florence follows the same academic calendar as the Kent campus -- same holidays, spring break, etc., with an occasional Italian holiday added.
• All credits will transfer back because this is a Kent State program.
• Escorted group air travel to Florence is available.
• An arrival orientation in Florence takes place before classes begin, topics cover academics, cultural and security issues as well as practical advice for living in Florence.
• Field trips to museums, villages and cities are integral part of the program and allow students to see first-hand what has been discussed in the classroom.
