    Biography

    Brandon Sweitzer, M.A., earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from The University of Akron. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program at Ohio University and will receive his PhD pending the completion of his dissertation. He has taught communication courses at Ohio University, The University of Akron and Kent State University. His research interests include cross-cultural communication, communication theory, quantitative methodology and the intersection of media effects and interpersonal interactions found on social media sites. His dissertation involves the development of an empirical model of mediation that shows the impact media effects found in a social media ecosystem have on an individual's perception of their congruency with public opinion. He has several award-winning conference papers and is currently providing a chapter for an upcoming textbook for media management courses.
