Abigail Donina is Right at Home at Kent State
After graduating from Peters Township High School in Pittsburgh, Abigail “Abbey” Donina had to choose between two universities: Slippery Rock in Butler County, Pennsylvania, or Kent State. So, she did what most students do and toured both campuses. Abbey then toured the Kent Campus during the Career and Community Studies’ Open House.
Erin Hawley Loves to Play-and Sing-Favorites
One of Erin Hawley’s favorite memories at Kent State was singing at karaoke night. Staged by the Flash Activities Board, the event packs students into then Quaker Steak and Lube, now Tahini’s in The Rathskeller, where they belted out original tunes to the delight, or displeasure, of classmates. Erin’s favorite go-to ballads were original songs.
Ryan Higgins Has a Passion for Making (and Consuming) Pizza
Knead, toss and shape the dough. (Rolling pin optional). Make and evenly ladle red sauce. Slice, chop and add toppings - vegetables, meats and shredded cheese. Promptly execute customer orders and consider special requests. Experience with various pizza types required.
Someday, this will serve as the description of Ryan Higgins’ dream job: pizza chef.
Nick Valentine is Blazing Trails, Living the Dream
Nick Valentine always imagined himself working for Disney. A quick study in the Career and Community Studies program, Nick Valentine completed his certificate in hospitality and event management in just three years. Nick also had the distinct pleasure of being the first CCS student to participate in the Kent State University’s commencement ceremony.
