EHHS has fielded two of the ten finalists for the 57th Annual Kent State University Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award: Amy Darrow and Monica Miller-Marsh.
Amy Damrow, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Cultural Foundations in the School of Foundations, Leadership and Administration at the Stark Campus. Monica Miller-Marsh, Ph.D., is executive director of the Child Development Center and associate professor in the Early Childhood Education Program in the School of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Studies.
“The alumni association is pleased to recognize outstanding classroom teaching through the Distinguished Teaching Award program. Faculty members represent Kent State University to our students, and the impact they have on the Kent State experience is remembered long after graduation,” said Scott McKinney, Executive Director of the Kent State Alumni Association. “The efforts put forth in the classroom by these finalists are wonderful examples of faculty commitment to student success and help begin a positive lifelong relationship between students and our university.”
Sponsored by the Kent State Alumni Association, the DTA is the university’s most prestigious honor in teaching. The award is presented annually to three full-time faculty members who demonstrate extraordinary teaching, whether it be in the classroom or online.
The DTA committee selected these 10 faculty members from a pool of many worthy nominees. Three recipients will be chosen from this group in the coming weeks, and all will be honored at the Oct. 20 University Teaching Council Conference.
