Dementia affects one-third of all people older than 65 years in the United States. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive, irreversible brain disease that results in impaired cognitive functioning and other behavioral changes. Humans are considered uniquely susceptible to Alzheimer’s disease, potentially due to genetic differences, changes in brain structure and function during evolution and an increased lifespan.
Kent State University will soon begin using a new standardized calendaring system with an improved look and enhanced functionality. The new university-wide Events Calendar will allow students, faculty and staff to stay up-to-date on events and activities, by placing all of their events, globally, in one place. Currently, organizers are required to submit requests on multiple websites to have their events included in the “What’s Up” calendar, FLASHperks, university calendar and department web pages.

At Kent State, we want to honor the celebration of our Native American and Indigenous culture by developing a calendar encompassing all the university events that are relevant to Native American Heritage Month. The Native American Heritage Month Planning Committee is welcoming university divisions, departments and student organizations to begin submitting their programming, activities and events to the University Events Calendar to be featured on the Native American Heritage Month Website.
Open Enrollment is from Oct. 16, through Nov. 3. Each year in the fall, benefits-eligible employees may select and make changes to their health coverage plans based on their needs and the needs of their family.
