Kent State University’s College of Education, Health and Human Services has announced the 2017 award recipients for its eighth Annual Hall of Fame Awards, which will take place on Friday, Oct. 20, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center. The Hall of Fame awards will honor seven Kent State alumni for their personal accomplishments and contributions to the college.

Depression is far more than just being sad or in a funk. Because of the stigma associated with having a mental illness, many people do not seek help for their depression. Yet, with proper treatment, more than 80 percent of people experiencing depression do recover. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a workshop on Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:30-10 a.m. to learn about the signs and symptoms of depression and the physical, emotional and cognitive impact of depression on their quality of life.
