Jackie Mallon brings to the Fashion department 15+ years of experience of the industry in both Europe and the U.S. She spent eight years in Milan, Italy, designing for the runways of Giorgio Armani and Moschino, involved in all areas of collection development from tailoring and daywear to eveningwear, celebrity dressing, and catwalk finale pieces. When she arrived stateside, she took up the position as Head of Studio in the NYC office of Anthropologie before working for several contemporary labels which required her to travel extensively in China and India sourcing fabric techniques and embroideries. Alongside her teaching career she maintains links to the industry designing on a consultancy basis for lines ranging from golfwear to bridal.

Jackie holds a Masters in Fashion from Central St Martins in London. She currently teaches in the Fashion department of the Art Institute of New York City, where she also serves on the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) providing direction and consultation to improve the syllabus, the program, and the success of graduates.

In 2013, Jackie published Silk for the Feed Dogs, her first novel, set in the international fashion industry inspired by her experiences and celebrating the uniquely colorful and eccentric characters notorious to our field. In her spare time, she is working on her second novel while also blogging about all things fashionable and literary at JackieMallon.com.
