Student Accommodations and Canvas
The words accessibility and accommodations are often used when talking about how to make online content available to every person in the class. You may want to put this email away for future reference since students can request SAS accommodations at any time during the semester. đ
The RCID Team wants to help you be proactive to ensure equal access to your content for all learners. If you havenât yet, check out the Canvas Accommodations page for information on the types of accommodations that can be requested and how to handle them and other important faculty resources.
Two of the most common accommodations the RCID team encounters are:
- Extending test time for a student (Instructions: Classic Quiz or New Quiz)
- Assigning different availability/due date or time for a student (Instructions: Classic/New Quiz)
Important Tip: When adding a different day or time for a student, make sure to click the +Add button and then enter the studentâs name to create a second set of parameters; do not replace âEveryoneâ with their name unless you wish to unassign it to the rest of the class.
