Dear Golden Flashes,
I am excited to share with you Transformation 2028 (T28), a new initiative in the Division of Academic Affairs designed to transform the way we prepare you and future generations of students for the dynamic, ever-evolving demands of your future careers. This initiative is all about creating an even better academic experience—one that is forward-thinking, innovative and aligned with the skills and knowledge the world needs.
So, what does T28 mean for undergraduate and graduate students at Kent State?
- More opportunities for learning across fields: We’re breaking down barriers between different areas of study to give you the chance to engage in exciting, interdisciplinary learning. This means you’ll be able to explore new ideas, connect different subjects and develop the kind of well-rounded perspective that employers value.
- Programs aligned with your future career: We’re making sure that what you learn here is directly connected to what industries need. Whether you’re planning to go into careers like tech, healthcare, education, business, design, engineering, the arts, or others, we’re evolving our programs to help you stand out with the skills that matter most.
Now, I know you might have questions about how these changes might affect your plan of study.
- Please be assured, your program is not going anywhere: This initiative does not involve merging or cutting programs, so it is designed to keep your academic path on track. You’ll be able to continue your studies right here at Kent State.
- The changes we’re making will strengthen your academic experience, giving you even more opportunities to grow and succeed.
We are taking this step thoughtfully and carefully, and it will roll out in phases between now and 2028. We are excited to partner with faculty, staff and students to shape this transformation together.
You can share your questions and ideas directly with me via this anonymous survey or learn more about T28. This will help ensure your voice is heard throughout this process and that our developments continue to keep students first.
Thank you for being part of this exciting journey as we continue to make Kent State a great place to learn, grow and achieve your goals.
My best,
Melody Tankersley, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President and Provost
