Message from the Director

Thank you for your interest in the School of Information at Kent State University.

We offer one of the top-rated Master of Library and Information Science programs and a unique Master of Science in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management.

Meghan Harper

Our American Library Association-accredited Master of Library and Information Science, the only one in Ohio, is ranked in the top 20 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. Our M.L.I.S. graduates are in leadership positions in libraries, information agencies, museums and cultural organizations, and companies of all sorts and sizes, all over the world. Many of our graduates go on to positions in other areas of the information field besides libraries — in research, for example, or publishing, information management, competitive business intelligence and more.

Our Master of Science offers concentrations in the emerging fields of health informatics, knowledge management and user experience design. These dynamic programs continually respond to changes in the marketplace for information and knowledge professionals and their evolving skill sets.

In addition, we participate in an interdisciplinary doctoral program, the Ph.D. in Communication and Information, which allows you to focus your studies in several different information and library science areas.

If you've already got a degree but are looking to advance your career or enhance your skill set, consider obtaining a graduate certificate in health informatics or knowledge management. Each semester we also offer a range of continuing study courses and workshops for professionals.

Explore our website to discover all that we're doing to prepare future information professionals and to transform the global information environment.

If I can be of any assistance or answer any questions for you, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Meghan Harper
