Benjamin Hottensmith
Biography
A native of northeast Ohio, Benjamin Hottensmith currently serves as adjunct instructor of Horn at Kent State University. An avid performer, Ben is a member of the Ashland Symphony and Kent Brass Quintet, and has performed with groups throughout the region including the Columbus Symphony, Lexington Philharmonic, CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, Black Squirrel Winds, Cleveland Chamber Choir and Ohio Light Opera. As a soloist, Ben has performed with the Brunswick High School Wind Ensemble at the 2017 OMEA Convention and with the University of Akron Symphonic Band as a winner of the UA Concerto Competition. Ben completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in May of 2020 at The Ohio State University under the tutelage of Professor Bruce Henniss. Prior to Ohio State, Ben attended Kent State University and The University of Akron studying with Kent Larmee and Margaret Tung, respectively.
