Music Faculty Member Wendy K. Matthews Authors Chapter in New Book
Wendy K. Matthews, Kent State associate professor of music education and director of bands, is included in Routledge’s International Handbook of Music Psychology in Education and the Community. Her chapter in the 528-page publication is written from the conductor-educator perspective and considers the symbiosis of the many elements a conductor must reflect upon when working in this setting. It wholistically covers the artistry of the conducting gesture, structuring effective rehearsal, motivation, and pedagogical knowledge and outlines educational concerns specific to teaching.
The book is now available. Find it on the Routledge website.
