Matt Nowak's hands rarely stop moving.
The senior music education major from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, spends much of his time with percussion instruments, including the marimba, which is kind of like a xylophone, but not, Nowak said.
As he prepares for his senior recital, Nowak spoke with Kent State Today about why the marimba has been a calling and his hopes for a future career teaching the joy of music to children.
While Nowak's senior recital will primarily involve the marimba, he will also have some duets with a cellist, a drum set player, and a separate multi-percussion piece. Nowak invites the public to the recital at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Ludwig Recital Hall within the Center for the Performing Arts.
