What's in your Bag?

KSU Fashion Student and Museum Intern Pierce Morgan was inspired by a purse he found in the Museum collection which had an assortment of personal items including a baby picture, Green Stamps, and a Christmas list.  He was intrigued by what stories and mysteries might be held in other bags and so he curated this display that helps us imagine.

Kent State University at Trumbull

This fall, Kent State University at Trumbull began offering Trumbull Correctional Institution incarcerated individuals a chance to complete a Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS). With substantial funding support from local foundations, Kent State Trumbull and LaunchNET Kent State will join Sinclair Community College (Dayton, Ohio) to complete this new 2+2 program partnership.   Sinclair has been offering an Associate in Business Management there for two years, so its first graduates were ready to begin working on their bachelor’s this fall. He Yin, Ph.D., assistant professor in Kent State University’s Department of Geography in the College of Arts and Sciences, recently received NASA’s New (Early Career) Investigator Award in Earth Science. Chelsey Palmer, a soon-to-be graduating nursing student, was recently named one of two “Scholars of the Year” by the Eastern Ohio Area Health Education Center (AHEC). Palmer and Youngstown State University student Jake Weber earned the award which recognizes students who are exceptional in their approach, level of engagement, and connecting theory with practice while in the AHEC’s Scholars Program. Dining Services

Dining Services is undergoing a significant transition from Aramark to in-house services. It is a new realignment at the top and a new era for students in their dining experience at Kent State. The future composition of Kent State Dining Services has begun, and the shift will officially commence on July 1 and coincide with the opening of the fall semester. Two outstanding Kent State University at Tuscarawas teachers were recognized recently when the Tuscarawas County University Foundation announced the 2020-2021 Distinguished Teaching Award winners.
