Campus Kitchen Food Distribution

Help the Campus Kitchen at Kent State spread the word about this week’s food distribution. The May food distribution in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will take place Wednesday, May 19, from 1 - 3 p.m. at Dix Stadium. Resources are free and open to anyone. Each household will receive two boxes of groceries. There is no proof of residency or income required. Visitors can expect to take home protein as well as shelf-stable food items. Richantae Johnson recently joined the Division of Human Resources as the new Compliance Investigator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Dear Vaccine: The Global Vaccine Project

The Global Vaccine Poem, launched in early April by Kent State University’s Wick Poetry Center and the University of Arizona’s Poetry Center, has grown to more than 1,700 stanzas submitted by people in all 50 states and 89 countries.  Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, at his May 17 news briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic, shared a video about the project to encourage all Ohioans to submit a stanza. Magaly Rios was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. She was 11 years old when she and her family moved to Chardon, Ohio, and she became a United States Citizen in 2016. Throughout her adolescent years, Magaly spent the majority of her time learning the English language and culture. "Nine Lives Project" Goes International In May

Jazz Studies faculty member Chris Coles' "Nine Lives Project" was recently accepted as the subject of a roundtable discussion for a virtual conference in Dublin, Ireland. The discussion, hosted by Chris Coles, fellow Jazz Studies faculty member Theron Brown, and other collaborators, will center on the work as a means of protest, self-reflection and action.
