Kent State University at Tuscarawas has received official word from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) that the Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology is now accredited retroactive to October 1. 2018. October is PT Month

  Students from the Kent State East Liverpool physical therapist assistant program observed National PTA Month by making monetary donations to two causes. The PTA students raised $500 through fundraisers this semester and chose to present $250 to the East Liverpool City Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program, as well as to VALOR Retreat. The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) has selected Kent State University as one of four finalists for the association’s 2020 Degree Completion Award. The annual award works to identify, recognize and reward institutions that employ innovative approaches to improve degree completion while ensuring educational quality. Kent State University recognizes that employees may want to vote on Election Day. As such, supervisors should provide employees with a reasonable amount of time to vote on Nov. 3. Note that there is no requirement to take leave time for pay purposes. Regarding working at polls, the Division of Human Resources has established guidelines on poll worker leave. KSU Fashion alumna, Tiarra Smallwood, received an award of $10,000 from the HFR Icon 360 Fund to support her business MAX+min.

Since graduating from the Kent State University School of Fashion in 2011, Tiarra Smallwood has had an impressive career in the fashion world. After designing for brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and The Gap, she launched her brand MAX+min in 2019.  Smallwood was recently awarded $10,000 from Harlem Fashion Row’s (HFR) Icon 360 Fund to put towards her growing business.   Harlem Front Row Icon 360 chose 27 designers from around the country and awarded them up $100,000 each to put towards their start-up businesses. Kent State University President Todd Diacon today announced the appointment of Melody Tankersley, Ph.D., to the position of senior vice president and provost, effective Nov. 1, 2020. An experienced leader, Tankersley has served Kent State in positions of increasing responsibility since 1993. In 2019, she was named interim senior vice president and provost.
