The Kent State University College of Architecture and Environmental Design Construction Management Student Organization was approached by the Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center to help build a shelter over the back entrance of their building in Ravenna, Ohio. The Portage County Clothing Center provides gently used clothing and other household items to families and individuals in need, free of charge. Kent State University at Tuscarawas held the 49th Commencement Ceremony on Fri., May 10, with 434 students graduating with an associate or bachelor’s degree and 17 students receiving certificates. Ms. Crumb, a broadcast journalism major, recently completed her third year at Kent State and an internship at State and Federal Communications, located in Akron, Ohio. Hayley Shasteen, a junior at Kent State University, was awarded the prestigious 2019 Goldwater Scholarship from the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The foundation awards the scholarships annually to students from across the country studying mathematics, natural science or engineering. Shasteen began her college career at Kent State’s Salem Campus and transferred to the Kent Campus last fall. She is now pursuing a dual degree in molecular and cellular biology and psychology.
