Kent State University celebrated the launch of a dynamic new space, the Design Innovation (DI) Hub, which will bring innovations from many disciplines together in a 68,000-square-foot building near the center of the Kent Campus. The construction launch, which marks the beginning of a major renovation of the former Art Building, was celebrated April 23 with a ribbon ceremony, interactive activities and collaborative pop-up design innovation challenges. ConnectCare wins Kent State Invent for the Planet competition

While many students use their weekends to work or catch up on sleep or homework, a dozen Kent State students spent the weekend of February 15-17 participating in a global “virtual hackathon” called Invent for the Planet (IFTP). The 48-hour competitive event grew from an engineering-focused program from Texas A&M University called Aggies Invent, which evolved into a global design challenge. Teaching is a privilege, according to Janice Lessman-Moss, professor in Kent State University’s School of Art’s Textile Program, whose enthusiasm for working with students led her to be honored with the university’s Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest teaching award a tenured or tenure-track professor can receive.
