School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) senior Christiana Ford was selected as one of five students nationwide to participate in the National Association of Black Journalists’ (NABJ) all-expenses paid reporting trip to China during November 2018. Ford, who aspires to report on politics after graduation, has sought out opportunities to travel abroad and report in foreign countries since beginning her undergraduate studies at Kent State University. Students help prepare food at the Campus Kitchen at Kent State University.

The Campus Kitchen at Kent State University is celebrating eight years of making an impact across campus and in the Kent community, annually turning 60,000 pounds of leftover food into 18,000 meals. Amanda Woodyard, director of the university’s Community Engaged Learning, began advising the Campus Kitchen about three years ago and has witnessed its continuing success. “The Campus Kitchen is a beast,” Ms. Woodyard joked. “It is a machine. The Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant, will help to fund the project, More Aware, a collaboration among Student Affairs, University Health Services, Student Support Services, and other divisions across the university.
