The School of Media and Journalism at Kent State University is saddened at the unexpected death of our alumnus, adjunct instructor and friend Bobby Makar. Bobby was a graduate of our B.S. and M.A. programs in Digital Media Production (DMP). Ensuring our faculty and students are safe during the COVID-19 pandemic is a primary concern in the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) Degree Program at the Twinsburg Academic Center (TAC). Recently, Lowe’s in Macedonia immediately responded to Prof. Wendy Hildebrandt regarding the need for a washer and dryer in the Skills Lab. A true milestone in the concept of international education, the American Academy celebrated its first Commencement in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, on Sept. 25. The American Academy is a dual-enrollment program jointly operated by Kent State University and the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR). The program’s curriculum follows a liberal arts education model, which is a new concept in Brazilian higher education. Kent State University Alumna Priya Midha, M.S. ‘20, is making a difference in Northeast Ohio, working to track COVID-19 to stop community spread. Midha was recently featured in Akron Life Magazine, which detailed her story. As she was about to graduate from Kent State last spring, the coronavirus hit America.
