Work is scheduled to begin the week of March 6 on the second phase of the Summit Street Improvement project.  The second phase will make improvements to Summit Street between Lincoln Street and Fraternity Circle. In the midst of recent events in America, some Islamic centers have been attacked or received hate mail. Constance Kassor, assistant professor of religious studies at Lawrence University, decided kind words could combat the hate. Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of four Claymont High School graduating seniors to their cross country team. On Feb. 21, Kieran Gitonga, Trevor Breehl, Dan Redmond and Angel Ervin signed Letters of Intent to run for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles Cross Country Team.  Gitonga, Breehl and Redmond are two-year letter winners for the Mustangs. Kent State University at Tuscarawas signed Garaway’s BJ Schwartz to a National Letter of Intent last week to run cross country for the Golden Eagles in Fall 2017.Schwartz is a three-time state qualifier who earned All-Ohio honors after finishing in 7th place as an individual at the OHSAA State Championships. He was also an important member of three, state-qualifying teams for the Pirates who earned an overall third place finish.
