Several new and renovated Kent State University buildings received Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) recognition in 2016, bringing to 11 the total number of certified buildings on Kent State’s campuses. Kent State University was recognized with a bronze Bicycle Friendly University award from the League of American Bicyclists. The Bicycle Friendly University award is presented to colleges and universities for their efforts toward making campuses safe and accessible for bicyclists. Kent State joins 164 bicycle-friendly universities in 44 states and Washington, D.C. Terry Schwarz is the director of Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative (CUDC) which is the outreach arm of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Terry’s work at the CUDC includes neighborhood and campus planning, commercial and residential design guidelines, and ecological strategies for vacant land reuse.
