Jon Harper, 73, of Kent, Ohio, passed away on April 10, 2016, at Stow Glen Retirement Center where he has lived for the past three years. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Patricia Holm Harper and dear son, Jonathan Evan Harper of Columbus. Born on March 18, 1943, as Jon Franklin Drake to Franklin John Drake of Greece and Elizabeth Diane Demetroupoulis of Chicago, Illinois, Jon was adopted when he was 13 by Donavan Harper, the stepfather he grew to dearly love and from whom he learned so much.

Ten students in Kent State University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication recently visited New York City with the spring 2016 Advanced TV News Producing course. Five student reporters and five producers visited the studios of ABC Nightline, CNN, Fox News, Good Morning America, MSNBC and WABC during a five-day visit. “You see CNN on TV, you see Fox, MSNBC, but you never actually picture yourself in the studio or on the set of a place like CNN,” says Kent State student Vivian Feke. “Getting to see it firsthand was such a worthwhile opportunity and I’m so grateful for it.
