When is Parents and Families Weekend 2024?

Parents and Families Weekend will be held Sept. 20-22. This is a great time to visit and experience all that the campus has to offer. Several engaging family-friendly programs are planned for the weekend so you and your family can enjoy the campus, create memories, and experience the pride and tradition of Kent State.

What are the registration fees?

Parent and Families Weekend Registration Fee:  Adult Ticket (Ages 17 and up) - $37, Youth Ticket (Ages 3-16) - $21, and KSU Student Price - $16 


What does the registration fee get me?

The registration fee grants you access to many of the events taking place that weekend  and include: 

  • An all-inclusive on campus weekend dining plan  

  • Dinner on Friday

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday 

  • Complimentary Cake Pop from Starbucks 

  • Complimentary 16 oz drip coffee, hot or iced from Einstein Bagels

  • Chance to register for a la carte activities 


Are refunds available?

Yes, until September 6. After this date, requests for refunds will not be honored. 


What do I need for entry into Parents and Families Weekend events?

You will be provided with a lanyard to wear at check-in and are required to wear it for all events. Meals throughout the weekend require a voucher to be given at check-in.  


When should we plan to arrive? 

Families are encouraged to arrive on the day that best fits their needs. Activities will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

When and where is check-in?

Check-in will be held on the 1st floor of the Kent Student Center from 3 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20. 

Check-in on Saturday, Sept. 21 will be held in the Kent Student Center Ballroom from 8-10:45 a.m.   


What types of events are offered?

Many events are offered during the weekend and include school and college open houses, tours, presentations, family activities and events.  Some activities require ticket purchases, such as the Blue and Gold Paint and Sip.  


Where do I check the schedule/list of events?

The Parents and Families Weekend website will post a detailed list of events and their descriptions. We recommend you review the events closely before registration, to ensure you are aware of all the events scheduled.  


Can my student pick up our registration materials?

Yes, students can pick up Parents and Families Weekend materials at the registration site on Friday between 3 p.m. and 8 a.m. ET. Students must show their Flashcard to pick up registration materials. Make sure to list your student’s name when completing the registration so that they are designated as an authorized pick-up person. 


It’s Saturday, and I haven’t picked up my tickets yet. What should I do?

If you did not check-in on Friday, you may check-in at the Kent Student Center Ballroom located on the 2nd floor between 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.


What are my parking options?

You may park in the Visitor’s Lot located on Summit St. in front of the Kent Student Center on Friday. Parking locations are located along Summit Street for Saturday. See the parking map

You may park in any of the highlighted areas regardless of its color. There is no charge on Friday and the weekends.  


I missed the Parents and Families Weekend registration deadline. What can I do?

The City of Kent has several activities that your family can enjoy. Here is a list of activities, walking tours, and museums and galleries.    


Do I have to register for the weekend to attend the a la carte event(s)?

Yes. The a la carte event(s) is only for weekend attendees.  


What events can my KSU student attend?

Your Kent State student is invited to attend all Parents and Families Weekend events with your family. KSU students must register for Parents and Families Weekend to attend.
