Cassandra Pegg-Kirby
Biography
Position:
In my role as Director of the Women's Center, utilizing a social justice framework, I lead the development and delivery of programming, services and advocacy around issues that impact women. I live in Kent and have been a member of the Kent State Community for over 15 years. Given my experiences and the relationships I have built in my tenure at Kent State, I see the core of my work as building community through collaboration, outreach and action.
Experience:
My background includes working and volunteering at shelters for domestic violence and sexual assault as well as a group home for adolescent girls in both Pennsylvania and Ohio. My professional experience in higher education includes admissions, academic advising and serving as a police dispatcher in addition to my role at the Women's Center.
Favorite place on the Kent campus:
I have spent 20 years on this campus and in this community and I'd have to say it's not one specific place. My favorite places on campus are where I can spend time with my friends and colleagues. For me it's more about the people than the location.
Best advice for students:
I believe the learning process is never complete and it is important to continue to question your own attitudes and beliefs. As soon as we stop asking the questions and challenging ourselves, we stop learning and growing
