Porthouse Theatre is dedicated to fostering new talent. In 2014, Porthouse presented a staged reading of Minnie Quay, a new musical created and directed by Kent State School of Theatre and Dance alumni.

About Minnie Quay

Based on an American folk legend, this haunting new musical tells of Minnie Quay, a young girl in a Michigan port town who falls in love with a sailor against her parents' wishes. With fate and circumstance tearing them apart, Minnie is forced to decide what is the ultimate price she is willing to pay for love.
