Educational Technology Resources
The following educational technology tools are licensed and supported by Kent State University. Faculty can use these tools to support their teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.

- FlashLine
FlashLine is Kent State University's portal for access to email, Canvas, Microsoft and Google Apps, faculty and advisor tools (including reporting student grades), employee resources, etc.
LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
- Canvas
Canvas is Kent State University's official learning management system, and can be used for hosting course content, assignments, tests, grades, and more.
WEB CONFERENCING
- Microsoft Teams
Teams is Kent State University's web conferencing and collaboration tool. It can be used for online meetings, chat, file sharing, and group collaboration.
VIDEO & MULTIMEDIA
- Kaltura
Kaltura (video.kent.edu) is Kent State University's video recording and hosting tool. Kaltura is integrated into Canvas.
- Microsoft PowerPoint
PowerPoint is a presentation application included in the Microsoft 365 suite. It can be used as a visual aid for live lectures, and can also be used to create narrated online presentations.
- VoiceThread
VoiceThread allows you and your students to create, comment on, and share multimedia presentations. It is integrated into Canvas. Free VoiceThread workshops are available.

TESTING & ASSIGNMENT TOOLS
- Online Proctoring
Kent State University licenses multiple proctoring software options that can be utilized for online testing.
- Respondus Campus-Wide
Respondus Campus-Wide is an offline test creation software that integrates with Canvas. It makes it easier to import questions from Word documents and to print tests and answer keys.
- Gradescope
Gradescope can be used for creating and grading bubble sheets (Scantron replacement).
- Turnitin
Turnitin can be used to compare student assignment submissions against institutional and global databases and produce similarity reports. It is integrated into Canvas Assignments, and can be enabled within the assignment settings.
SURVEY/FORMS TOOLS
- Qualtrics - preferred software (ADA compliant)
Qualtrics allows you to create online surveys and forms. Qualtrics also offers data collection reports and graphs, which can be exported in various formats. You can access Qualtrics at kent.qualtrics.com.
- Microsoft Forms
Forms is a survey and quiz application included in the Microsoft 365 suite. You can use it as a standalone application or from within Teams.
STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
- University Libraries Statistical Consulting group offers support for the software packages SAS, SPSS, JMP, NVivo, Qualtrics, and R.
